Border Patrol (OPEN!)

Sagevine stretched in his small bed. He saw outside easily, since he was a young warrior and hadn't earned a spot more inwards from the temperatures. He was fine with it however; eventually he'd make it to being a great senior warrior. For now, he just needed to work for it.

The night before, Wolfstar had told the handsome tom he was in charge of dawn border control along the ShadowClan border. The night patrol would be arriving any time soon, and he had to gather others. The prey pile was small as well; he figured it could use some more cats adding into it.

He stood up now and looked at the other warriors. All he heard was some stirring and even a couple snores. He didn't think it was too early to wake everyone up, so he meowed, "Would anyone like to go on patrol with me?" Obviously he didn't yell it, but he hoped the cats who would want to go heard him.

Unlike her apprentice counterparts, Mistlepaw was already awake and in the bright, cold Leafbare morning. She had overheard Wolfstar asking Sagevine, her mentor, to lead the dawn patrol, and she wanted to join him. The little apprentice loved spending time with her mentor.
As she waited, her white paws toyed with dead leaf dancing in the wind, rearing up on her back legs when it soared into the air and plummeting down towards the icy ground when she caught it. It was games like this that the young she-cat was growing out of, but it did warm her bones in the cold dawn.

Ooc: Yeah, just re-make their character form (you can just copy and paste really) in the character board and you're good to go!

Pebblewhisker padded into camp, a cocky grin on his face as he padded over to the warriors' den. He noticed another tom, it was Sagevine, near the warriors den, and he also saw Mistlepaw playing around with a leaf. He gave her a friendly smile, the tom was usually happy, and he loved to make jokes. The handsome tom finally stopped outside the warriors' den and listened to Sagevine's question. "I'd like to go." He meowed.

Ooc: Okay, sounds good, thanks Smokey!

"Alright, I'll go grab Mistlepaw. Be ready to go in a minute," Sagevine meowed to the tom. He personally found Pebblewhisker to be very different from him. They were both very good looking, and they were kind at heart, but that was probably where the similarities stopped. Sagevine was arrogant and flirtatious and he knew Pebblewhisker wasn't quite like that.
The handsome tom found his apprentice playing with a leaf and gave a small chuckle. "Mistlepaw, you ready to go?" He asked her.

"Okay then, sounds good!" The tabby tom meowed cheerfully with a nod. He could be flirtatious sometimes, but he was mainly friendly and outgoing. He padded over to Sagevine and Mistlepaw, and waited for them to be ready to go on the patrol. He knew Sagevine fairly well, but he didn't really know Mistlepaw.

Mistlepaw left her leaf and leapt into a standing position when she heard her mentor and looked up at him, her eyes beaming with excitement. "Yes, Sagevine," she replied. The young she-cat saw Pebblewhisker behind Sagevine and gave him a friendly grin. "Where are we patrolling today?"

He also gave her a friendly smile, and padded closer to them, thinking about where they could hunt. "Maybe along the lagoon would be a good place, and then near the riverside?" He asked them, still smiling.

"That sounds good to me," Sagevine meowed to the other two. He had a feeling today was going to be a good day, unlike so many other days he had lived. The memory of Stripepaw's death at the Moonfalls came to mind but he shook it off. That was a long time ago; no use in bringing back painful memories.

Mistlepaw purred with delight. Unknown to her mentor, she had been secretly practicing her fishing skills, and planned to show them off for the two warriors. Though she was still a fairly young apprentice, Mistlepaw was driven to get her warrior name as soon as possible. When she arrived in RiverClan a few moons ago, many cats were skeptical about allowing her into the clan, some of the apprentices going so far as to pick on her as she was such an easy target. Her main driving force was proving all those who doubted her wrong.

He nodded, happy that the others agreed with his suggestion. He was excited to hunt with the warrior and apprentice, and he padded out of camp with them, he wondered if Mistlepaw was a good fisher or not. He was one of the cats who didn't doubt her at all, after all if she joined RiverClan, she's a RiverClan cat now. He smiled to them.

"On the way,I'm going to quiz on a few things Mistlepaw. You aren't too far off from inspection from Wolfstar after all. A few moons and you'll be at your vigil," The warrior mused to his apprentice.

He listened to the warrior, with a thoughtful expression. It would be interesting to see this, and he meowed, "Perhaps I could help with that as well, if you guys want?" He asked them.

Mistlepaw padded quickly beside her mentor, grinning excitedly at him when he mentioned her vigil. She gave the same gleeful look to Pebblewhisker. Although her and the other warrior didn't know each other too well, she always felt welcomed by him, unlike a few other clan members.
"I'll answer them best I can," she said as they approached the lagoon, "I've also been practicing my fishing."

"Thanks, Sagevine." He meowed gratefully. "All right!" He meowed excitedly when the apprentice replied. "We're here at the lagoon, so you can show us your fishing skills. Maybe you'll even break some records and amaze us al!" He joked, looking at her.

Sagevine looked at the lagoon as it came into view. It was full of recently melted ice and fish were sure to be near the surface. "First question before we get started; why do we have a Warrior Code?" He asked the very general question to hear the apprentice's specific opinion on it.

MIstlepaw purred when she heard the question. The Warrior Code was the first thing an apprentice must learn about in order to become a warrior. "The Warrior Code is the law that all clans and all cats must obey," the she-cat started, "They were created by the first leaders to keep peace between the clans. So long as we all obey these laws, there shouldn't be any need for conflict between the clans..."

Sagevine nodded, content with his apprentice's answer. "Very good, Mistlepaw. And what do you personally believe is the most important law?" He asked her.

He didn't say anything yet as he didn't want to interrupt, but he listened to the question and then the apprentice's answer. She had given a very good, complete answer and he gave her a nod. "I don't think even I did that good when I was asked that," He joked. "Good job!" He meowed to her.

Mistlepaw purred proudly at the warriors' praises, before listening again to the next question. The she-cat frowned thoughtfully and hesitated, thinking carefully about what to say and reciting each part of the warrior code in her head.
"Well..." she began, "Every rule is important. But I think the most important ones are those that address the kindness and honour a warrior should uphold; like 'No cat can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if it's from a different Clan', or 'An honourable warrior avoids killing another cat in battle, if they can... But I think the idea of each Clan having to come together if one is in danger of falling is the most important because it reminds us that deep down we're all the same: we breath the same air, eat the same food - and so we should all care for one another, regardless of clan..."
Mistlpaw stopped herself, a little embarrassed at her answer. She looked up at Sagevine, searching for any hint of approval or disapproval.
