Stoneclaw barely grimaced when he felt the two younger cats land on him, but his strength was living up to its reputation. He began moving and twisting his body in an attempt to get the apprentices off.

Larkpaw's stable stance she had managed to land enabled her to keep her position on the warrior just about, but Stoneclaw's movements made it next to impossible for her to land an attack with her claws or teeth. She gave a quick glance over to Lightningpaw to see how he was fairing.

Stoneclaw, seeing as how his movements were making it more difficult for his apprentices, began moving even quicker. The goal was to get them off, and try again.

He was very concentrated on trying to do the moves he had learned on the tom, and he looked at Larkpaw, but she wasn't doing all that much better than he was, it seems that their mentor was not allowing them to do a tooth and claw attack or all, and wondered what they could do to do the move properly on their mentor.

It wasn't much longer before Larkpaw's grip failed and the little she-cat was thrown from Stoneclaw's back and landed with a thump onto the ground. She staggered to her paws and shook her fur free of dirt, winded a little, and looked slightly dazedly back to see how Lightninpaw was doing.

Lightningpaw managed to fight with Stoneclaw a little more, but he sure was a tough cat and after a little while he got knocked back by Stoneclaw's strength and he got up, looking at Larkpaw.

Stoneclaw gave a small chuckle once the apprentices were off. "Good, good. Best first chance I've seen in a while. Can you tell me what you did wrong?" He asked in his gravelly voice.

Lightningpaw glanced over to Larkpaw then back to Stoneclaw, not quite sure what the right answer was, as they had both done pretty much the same they'd done to the rock. "I suppose its just harder to do it on a real warrior?" He meowed.

Reluctantly, and refusing to make eye contact with her mentor, Larkpaw gave her answer under her breath, "I suppose my footwork wasn't perfect..."

He glanced at Stoneclaw again, thinking for a moment, and he meowed, looking at Larkpaw. "Yeah, I guess that too, but I still think it is a bit more challenging when you do it on a real warrior rather than a rock." He meowed.

"Footing could be better, I agree. And yes, doing the move on a warrior will be much more difficult than a rock," The warrior gave a low laugh at the expense of his apprentices.

Larkpaw winced with embarrassment under her mentor's gaze, combing the earth with her claws in hot frustration. She looked over to Lightningpaw to see how he was taking the comments. Knowing him, he was just eager to try again.

"Since this is only your first real day on offense, do not take it to heart. You will have much time to improve. These are moves that can get you killed, or another cat killed. It takes time to strengthen it," Stoneclaw meowed, in one of his rare moments of empathy.
