Hello, my name is Brooke. I live in a different universe than yours, one that was hit with a type of plague. It made humans like what you call zombies. Flesh-eaters, mindless killing machines. If you can't tell by now, I hate them. A lot.
My goal in life? Survive and not become one of them. Sounds pretty simple, right? Not really. Very much so easier said than done. It happened only a couple of weeks ago, but it only feels like yesterday.
It was during nighttime, where I was. Everyone had just gone to bed, expecting nothing new the next day. Around midnight is when it really started. This person, half-way through the transformation, knocked on our door. My parents, being the kind people they were, let him in and tried to help him. He told us he'd been bit by a random person. My parents thought it was someone with rabies or otherwise common thing. In a couple of minutes, he was full zombie. I suppose you can guess what happened next. My parents were killed, and I ran with my little brother, Kenneth, who was 17. I'd been home visiting over summer, and so I was still slightly familiar with the roads.
People were screaming in the streets, panicking. I got separated from my brother, unfortunately. I tired searching for him, but the sudden rising of the dead managed to wake up my survival side. I stole a couple of things from the local gas station, including a random person's car, and drove out of the city. I didn't pass any living creature, and so I didn't stop until I was out toward the country.
I found a small, abandoned shack and made my temporary home there. I found hunting gear, including guns and knives. So I live here now, killing the stray walker or two once in awhile. I know I will find my brother one day.
