It was a calm day in the short summers of the Northern Pack territories. The temperature was warm and pleasant, birds were singing, insects humming, and a sweet fresh scent of summer filled the air.
In a clearing in the center of a vast green forest, a small pack of dogs were enjoying the warm day. The two adult dogs, a beautiful Malamute and a sturdy young Alsatian, were strewn out over rocks and, absorbing the sun's heat, whilst three cubs played nearby.
"Hey, watch it Rain. Splinter is only little," one of the pups barked in an authoritative voice. He was the oldest of them all, and often took charge.
The Alsatian smiled, "Atta boy, Seren. Always the voice of reason. You pups behave now, understand?"
"Yes Orion," Seren woofed back, bursting with pride.
Orion sat up sharply and looked around in a panic, "Seren, Splinter, Rain... Where's Rhea?"
Just then, the ground beneath his paws began to tremble. A loud rumble was coming closer and closer through the wood. Suddenly, a small herd of deer burst through the trees and trampled stupidly over the clearing, leaving hoof marks and turned-up earth in their path.
After they had run off, into the forest, a little white puppy came dashing into the clearing in chase of the deer, but was stopped in his tracks as the tall figure of Orion loomed angrily over him.
"What on Earth do you think you are doing?!" The German Shepherd barked furiously.
"I was trying to hunt?" Rhea said, smiling nervously.
Orion was livid, "You could have killed your brothers!" he barked. He was at the end of his tether with this mischievous little pup.

" Orion! She is okay, as well as the pups, relax." She got up and trotted over to Rhea " You need to stop this, okay Rhea? You are scaring Orion, he doesn't want you to get hurt." She bent down and nuzzled the little pup. Splinter and Rain ran over " That was awesome!" They exclaimed at the same time in awe. Frostbite laughed " Yes and it is an example of what not to do! "

"I almost got one, I swear I did!" Rhea barked excitedly at her brothers.
Seren gave her a disapproving look, "You're always getting into trouble," he growled, "Just when are you going to grow up?"
"Oh come on Seren, it was just a bit of fun," Rhea barked back.

"Seren is right, Rhea," Orion barked, looking at the four pups, "You need to start behaving a little more."

Once the Alsatian's back was turned, Rhea rolled her eyes. "Come on then," she said to her brothers, "What are we playing?"

" Nothing. We are going to continue our travel." She sighed.
" but mom!" Splinter whined.
" No buts." She replied.
Rain quietly mimicked her mother.

"We're moving already?" complained Rhea.
"Yes," Orion barked sternly, "We won't go far, but we need to stay ahead of the Southern Packs."

Frostbite placed Rhea and Splinter on her back again. She put Rain and Seren on Orion's back and she began to walk ahead.

Ooc: Basically the pups are slightly older now, maybe about 8-10 weeks old, and they all are still running from the enemy.

Orion lead the way through the tall trees of the wonderful forest as warm, dappled sunlight sprouted through the ever-thickening leaved and painted golden patterns onto his black-and-grey-brown coat.

Seren began to enjoy riding on his role-model's back, and climbed up Orion's thick-furred neck, placing his little front paws on the soldier's head and standing as high as he could go in an effort to make himself look grand and powerful.

Rhea, on the other hand, was just annoyed they were moving again already. She hadn't had nearly enough fun.

Splinter, who was to small to see over his moms head, climbed up her neck and stuck his head out inbetween her ears.

Rain pulled on Serens tail " Sit down I can't see anything with you standing up like that!" he grumbled. He looked at Rhea, he didn't want to move now either. He came up with an idea " I have to go to the bathroom!" he whined.

Rhea caught Rain's eye as they both had that mischievous twinkle. "Me too!" the little white puppy barked.

Orion sighed, "Fine. I'll take you too over there where you can go. Come on Rhea. Seren, jump off for a second, okay? We'll be back in a minute."

Rhea jumped off her mother's back and followed Orion into the trees.

Splinter looked at Seren with a shrug, all the pups had gone to the bathroom before they left.

Rain looked up at Orion " Don't look!" he barked. He signaled to Rhea he had a plan.

Orion sighed frustratedly, before turning his back and wandering a little way back the way they had all come.

Rhea sprang up excitedly to her brother, "What's the plan then?" she whispered.

" Ok, we hide behind these bushes and when Orion and Mommy come here to get us we will surprise attack them!" he giggled.

"Brilliant!" she squealed delightedly, "Come on!"
Rhea leaped behind a nearby bush and waited for Rain to join her.

Rain hid in the one on the other side. He was quiet, minutes had already passed.

Rhea heard Orion's voice as the Alsatian drew nearer, "Pups?" he called, "Are you ready? I swear, if you've run off I will not be held responsible for my actions!"

Rhea just about managed to suppress a laugh as the silly adult sniffed around nervously, looking for the missing pups. All they had to do was wait for mom to arrive, and then they would leap out...

Frostbite came behind Orion " Did you already loose the pups?" she barked. Rain whispered " 1... 2.... 3!"
" Roar!" he yowled as he jumped out onto Orion's leg.

Rhea followed him and landed on her mother's shoulder and began playing with her ears, laughing wickedly. "Did we scare you?" the little pup asked, panting excitedly.

"You scared us alright," growled Orion, trying not to yell, "what were you doing back there?"

" You little goobers!" She Nuzzled the pups.

Orion rolled his eyes, "Come on you two," he sighed, "We need to get moving. Unless, of course, you want the southern pack dogs to catch up and gobble you up?"
The Alsatian raised an eyebrow and smiled down at the pups devilishly.

Rhea snorted in disapproval, "Those stupid mutts wouldn't stand a chance against me and Rain. We'd deal with them, easy."
Rhea then proceeded to jump around in a pretend fight with an imaginary opponent.

" Yeah!" He tackled Rhea. Rain got off of her and looked up " See?" He smiled.

Frostbite smiled " Yes but you want to meet your father don't you?" She smiled.

Rhea got up and bounced up to her mother excitedly, "Tell us about dad, mum!" she squealed with enthusiasm.

Orion smiled at her as memories of the fine leader of the Northern Pack flooded his mind.
