Hello world. My name is Derek, but most of my friends call me Rek. I was born and raised in the Valiant compound, and it's all I've ever really known. I hang out with my Valiant friends, we go to Valiant classes, we eat Valiant food- well, maybe not completely Valiant food, but still.

I've got loads of good friends, but my best friend is a guy named Aric Sec. He's 8 inches taller than me but I still get him into a head-lock. Our parents hate each other, and I have no idea why. Aric told me once that he knew, and the closest I got to him telling me anything was him when he was sleep-talking like he usually did. I mean, yeah we had sleepovers where my mom would take us to the Pit until like 3 am, and he was knocked out afterwards, but he'd say the weirdest things in his sleep. The thing he said about the reason his parents hate my mom and vice versa is 'It's also defined as 'happy''. Whatever that means. He's obviously not going to get Veracity on his test.

I'm actually going to take my Aptitude Test tomorrow, and I just know I'll either get Valiant or Astute. My mother's always said I was smart, so I take her word for it. She's alright with transferring if I choose to, but in all honesty, I don't want to. I love Valiant, and this is my home. Nothing will make me want to change.

Well, in French truth is Verite. You could use that. Or maybe Verity. Or you could use Fait, which means fact in French. By the way, I don't know this stuff off the top of my head. Google translate can take some credit.
