The Loner and Lonely (private - me and Smoke)

Tarlio chewed up the last piece of bone from the remainders of the rabbit beside him, sucking out the rest of the nutritious marrow inside. He wasn't allowed to eat what he caught right away; pack rules. But the loner hadn't been eating a great deal, as most of the pack wolves dispised him, and 'pecking order' was was very much alive within the Pack of Never Ending Winter.
The day was warmer than most Tarlio had seen, especially after living in the far north for a substantial amount of time. It was good to be south again.

The omega silently made his way to what was leftover from the alphas' -and even the other omegas'- meal. His stomach had felt like it was folding in on itself, from the constant hunger the half-wolf always bared. But he had grown used to it by now; sure, he may have been as large as a slightly wolf had the pack let him properly feed, but he had to deal with the resentment they held for him due to his heritage.
Oran's needs were always pushed past others, because he was part dog and part wolf. His mother, a sweet, kind Siberian husky, could only nurse him for so long until she had grown too weak to care for him, out of her owner's supervision. Lonely and abandoned, the halfer had stumbled his way across the tundra until he found the pack's camp. At first he was welcomed and cared for, but once his father revealed himself and who the pup's mother was, he was shunned.
He still hated his idiotic father.
Snapping his thoughts from dwelling on his resentment, Oran spotted Tarlio, a wolf from the north, eating his share of the prey. The half dog took his own piece, deciding to not talk to the not-very-rude wolf that was nearby him. He instead chose to lie down to enjoy his small piece of the catch.

Tarlio noticed the younger wolf as he sat down away from him, picking the pitiful scraps of the remaining carcass from earlier. The youngster looked too thin for his age, even for an omega. Azar had informed him that the youngster was a half-breed; a mix between dog and wolf, which made the rest of the pack hate him. The loner found this terribly unjust, but he was the only one, it seemed.
Deciding to try feed the pup a little better, Tarlio called over to him, "Oran isn't it? That;s not much of a dinner you have there. If you like, you can finish mine. I'm not hungry, anyway."

Tarlio smiled as Oran came and lay next to him. The loner planned to at least make some friends within the pack, even if the were the lowest in the pecking order.
His amber eyes began to scan the whitening landscape. "I've heard a lot about you," Tarlio began, curious about the young wolf, "You are part dog, right?"

Oran paused in his last bite from the rabbit. He looked at Tarlio, but sensed no hostility in his voice; only curiosity.
"I am. My mother was a dog that looked much like a wolf, but still she was a pure-bred. So I am considered a 'halfer'," He introduced a bit of the pack's slang to the newer wolf.

"I have learned to hunt. They just don't allow me to hunt for the pack, or on their territory," Oran barked, feeling insulted at such an accusation. It was easy to unsettle the halfer, however it was hard to make him act on such emotions.

"Okay," Tarlio said, unfazed by the wolf-dog's snapping, "In that case, how about we do a spot of hunting for the pack. The deer's run out, and we could grab a hare or two between us."

Giving a small groan of protest, the halfer got up to his paws and trotted into the trees behind the wolf. He really hoped Tarlio wouldn't make him regret this.

Tarlio stopped running and waited for the wolfdog to catch up with him, breathing in the scents around him as he waited. His large muzzle dropped to the ground as he began to track the trail of a buck deer. When he spotted it, He called Oran over.
"You see that beast," He asked his accomplice, grinning at him fiendishly, "That thing would be fun to chase, don't you think?"

The halfer easily caught up to wolf. He had long limbs, and was a very fast runner despite his heritage.
But he was a bit fatigued., due to malnourishment and over-eating what he usually got.

"Well..." Tarlio whispered, thinking on how to solve the problem, "We could try driving it off the cliff. It wouldn't be too far to run and if it falls, it'll no doubt injure itself. Then he'll be easy to catch."
As the loner finished explaining, the buck lifted its head up quickly, hearing the faint noise. Tarlio flattened himself to the ground. Soon, the animal continued grazing, and the russet wolf relaxed his muscles.
"What do you think of that idea?" he asked his comrade.

"It's good, I suppose. There's a cliff not too far West of here. You run after it from its left, and I from its right. It won't be able to turn either way then, and as long as we stay a bit back, it won't turn tail," Oran explained, keeping his voice low to make sure he did not alert the two wolves' prey.

Tarlio was impressed with the younger wolf's planning. "Sounds like a plan," he remarked, "I'll take the left side."
