Hohn grunted.
He loved his daughter, but why did she always do this?
"He may stay one night. I would like Wyu to keep guard with you. You may take shifts or work together, but I want to make sure none of you are over-tired and that Tarlio is always guarded."

Luna suddenly felt bad at her father's grunt. Was she being to hospitable? Was she putting her carelessness before the pack's safety?
"Yes sir. Follow me Tarlio, I'll show you the way back," She barked, slightly hanging her head low.

Tarlio wagged his tail at this. It was the first time he had wagged his tail in a long time. But why? Even a large and delicious kill couldn't make him wag his tail, and he much preferred meat to pack wolves, so why was he so happy to have to spend more time with them that his tail wagged.
"Thank you, sir", he said, and he meant it. Although he wasn't looking forward to being kept under guard for the whole night, it was good that he was being given a safe place to sleep.
He stood up to follow Luna back to the camp, when he noticed her head hung a little, as if in shame. "What's the matter", he said as kindly as he could with his rough voice.

Luna, trotting on her paws, looked behind herself to Tarlio. She didn't know if he'd understand, but since her father nor Wyu was around -they had taken off after she bowed her head t the two males- she might as well tell him. He'll be leaving in the mornig, never to be seen again so why not?
"When my father and mother grow too old to take care of the pack correctly, I will take their place and choose my second-in-command and so on. I sometimes wonder, in situations like this, if I am being to hospitable. I feel like I'm putting my pack's safety at risk when I feel like I'm too kind. I highly doubt that you're a mass murderer like my father seems so pretentious about, but I still feel like it," She barked and suddenly stopped, realizing she was ranting.
"Sorry, I don't think you wish to hear of a stranger's problem's," She said.

"Hey, don't worry about it", He said cheerfully, "It's good to get things off your chest once in a while. I can imagine it can be tough, you know, to be leader one day."
Tarlio trotted up beside Luna and walked along side her. "And for the record", he said, smiling slightly at her again, "I wouldn't say there is such thing as being too hospitable if you trust the wolf you are taking in."
He met the white wolf's blue eyes with his amber ones, giving her an honest look. "So", he continued, "do you you trust me?"

Lun gave a small sly look to Tarlio. "I don't know, I haven't known you long enough," She barked to him.

"Your gonna have to trust me", the timber wolf said jokingly, "you've let me into your pack for the night."
The two wolves walked together for a little while before Tarlio spoke again. "You know, I could leave now", he growled, not meeting Luna's eye, "if that would make it easier. I could make it tonight, I expect. If I ran most of the night, I could probably make it to safety in good time."

Luna suddenly felt horrified at the thought. "No, that is, no iffense, a horrible idea. My mind is set and you are staying in camp for tonight," She said, her voice giving away that she didn't want his blood to be spilled just because she let him go in the middle of the night.

Tarlio was quite taken aback by the sternness in the she-wolf's voice. "Okay", he said. "Honestly, I'm relieved to hear you say that. I was half expecting me to be chased out of the camp the moment we returned."
At last they reached the camp and the two wolves entered it to find Wyu and Hohn in the center. Tarlio sat in front of them waiting on instructions on where he was going to sleep.

"You can sleep in the extra den near the edge of the camp," Hohn said formally, seeing the loner and his daughter appear.
"It hasn't been cared for in a while, but it's warm, dry, and has some of the softest pelts in it because they have not yet been worn down by sleeping wolves."

Tarlio looked around and spied a small cave at the edge of the camp. and walked over to it, no doubt, he said to himself, followed by the three pack wolves. "Thank you", he mumble ans stepped in.

Luna nodded to her father and walked over to the cave, standing post outside towards the left of the entrance.

"You weren't lying", Tarlio called back from inside the cave. "There is some great bedding in here."
He yawned and lay down to rest.

Luna couldn't help but smile as Tarlio said what he did. Maybe she really could trust him.

Wyu quietly followed the two wolves and he sat intront of the den entrance.

Luna acknowledged Wyu with a slight nod of her ead along with a small smile. Now that she was in the camp she didn't have to be stern or rigid like she did outside on the edges of their territory.
"I'll take first shift," She barked to the other wolf softly so only he could hear. It didn't sound like a suggestion, but it was.

Wyu yawned with sleepiness in his eyes. " Ok, thats fine I guess." ,Wyu sat next to the entrance and fell asleep in a few minutes.

Tarlio stirred in his sleep. He began to mumble and kick his legs slightly, like a wolf, or dog for that matter does when it is dreaming. But the timber wolf wasn't having a dream. It was a nightmare.

Lun heard a few mumblings, an hour and a half into her shift. She knew it would be a bit rude, but she peeked over her pure white shoulder inside the den to see Tarlio stirring. It seemed like he was having a nightmare. It made sense, she supposed. Being in a new, dangerous place with strange wolves with a strange way of life. She couldn't blame him. She got nightmares too.

Wyu woke up he saw Luna still doing her shift. " He came up to her and asked, " Shall I take your shift?"

Luna looked to Wyu, surprised that he was awake. She hadn't been up for very long, but she was already tired. A long day of training could do that to you.
"Yes, thank you Wyu," She softly barked, as to not wake Tarlio from his fears. She felt bad, but when you interrupted someone from their nightmares, it would plague them for the rest of the night. She slowly slid down onto her fore-legs and rested her head on her paws, lulling her eyes to close. When they did, she was out like a light.

Tarlio's dreams were getting progressively worse as the night went on. He was tossing and turning and whimpering and barking, all in his sleep at his frightful night images.
Suddenly he leaped out of sleep and was wide awake, amber eyes blazing and pupils constricted with pure terror. He was shaking, and as he woke so suddenly from his nightmare, he cried out: "MOTHER!"
He lay there, his breath shallow, his eyes and mind adjusting to their current location.

Wyu nodded but soon froze at the scream. He stuck his head in Tarlio's den, " Are you okay?!" Wyu came up in front of Tarlio placing his paw on him as if to hold him down and let him have a breath

Luna snapped her eyes open and glimpsed as Wyu went into the den. She quickly sat up on her young paws and dipped her head into the cave, wondering what was going on.

Tarlio stared at the wolf that sat in front of him, and then glanced up at the white head poking in from the cave entrance.
"I'm fine", he said, calming down slightly. "I was just dreaming about my..." The timber wolf cut off his sentence before he could say anything about what he dreamed about. He pulled away from Wyu and turned his back to the den entrance.
